Food for Thought
Public Group active 3 months, 1 week agoOccasionally we find a scripture that brings to mind a feeling that we have finally discovered the answer to all of mankind’s questions, or maybe just some small clarification on some very minor point of contention, or maybe some epiphany that wants to be remembered.
Maybe folks could stop by and comment on our epiphany.

Food for Thought: 6 months, 1 week agoSomething I was thinking about. I always hear the argument/statements about how could someone be held responsible for their accountability to the gospel if they are isolated and never receive it. Something hit me. If all life came from two people, then they were supposed to teach their children the statutes of God. Then those adults were supposed…[Read more]

Food for Thought: 1 year agoMe and Lei have spent a lot of time in the Old Testament lately and I was thinking about this discussion. I would think that Jesus Peter & Paul had “their” Bible pretty much memorized (Jesus Duh!) So if we are trying to understand what these guys that lived 2000 years ago were trying to [...]

Food for Thought: 1 year, 1 month agoYeah, everybody has always thought that I was too blunt. So now days, when it is seen to be better to lie that speak reality, I am really an outcast. I don’t know if you remember that I have always looked forward to anarchy, now that it looks like its getting closer, and it is [...]

Food for Thought: 1 year, 1 month agoAm I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? Gal 4:16 This concept has been eating at me lately, and then I saw this verse this morning, I think lots of Christians, especially in other parts of the world are feeling this way these days. Maybe I should have posted this in [...]

Food for Thought: 1 year, 1 month agoI have been spoken to about this more and more lately. Someone gave me this verse a few days ago. Given what has happened to relationships in my life since getting saved, it really speaks to me. I confess that the desire has ran through my mind “Please come quickly Lord, just so that people [...]

Food for Thought: 1 year, 1 month agoProverbs 22:3
The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, but the naive go on, and are punished for it.Read this the other day for my daily proverbs. It always speaks to me because sometimes I have trouble discerning between when I need to divert direction or when it is a time to accept the test, pray and dig in. I still seem to lean very…[Read more]

Roger check out the word tool Randy found…it’s pretty cool, I think you’ll like it.

So you sent me down a ”rabbit trail” or ”rabbit hole” as Leilani says. Now that my whole morning is gone.
I was thinking prudent meant ”careful” but it would appear that it means ”clever”.
What do you mean by ”dig in”? Hide in a hole? or stand firm?
-
i meant ”stand firm”/”push harder”

Oh my other rabbit trail, I ended up here for quite awile:

Food for Thought: 1 year, 1 month agoahh…yeah…i totally agree. So many times pastors/mentors at our church talk about that. Our teachings are always taking into account the ‘entire’ word of God. And the little bit that i’ve dabbled in systematic theology, it’s researching a topic using the whole bible. Personally for me, God speaks to me quite a bit in the [...]

Food for Thought: 1 year, 2 months agoI am always too vague, I’m working on it. I feel like verse 16 is quoted a lot by folks who are referring to the entire Bible, which is fine, I’m sure that if God was guiding Paul when he wrote it, God knew people would take it that way. But Paul is not talking [...]

Food for Thought: 1 year, 2 months agonot meaning to sound sarcastic or rhetorical, but what are you getting at? what about the Scripture? The fact that it’s referring to OT yet speaking about Christ?

Food for Thought: 1 year, 2 months agoWe have a friend that says about the King James, “If its good enough for Jesus its good enough for me!” That is not what I’m talking about here. I am talking about the fact that when ever the scriptures are referred to, in the New Testament, Jesus and his disciples are referring to the [...]

Sins of the father?, me and Lei end up in the ”what about those that never heard?” dilemma a lot, we have never found the way out, what about the sons of Canaan and the sons of ishmael?
One message that really helped me is John Piper’s 2 part message “There is no partiality with God” at desiringgod.org. I REALLY recommend checking it out. Here’s a quote from it. The Scripture is Romans 2:11-16
“Not Having the Law Is Not the Basis of Judgment
When someone perishes who never heard of the Law of Moses, it is not because…[Read more]
You’re right, that does sum it up, that is where we always end up. ”God knows their heart”
(Is that part of that Romans study at desiringgod.org ?)
yeah, I burned dozens and dozens of John Piper messages to listen to when driving around all day. They’ve been going through Romans for years, so he really takes time to dig deep into scripture. He’s the first evangelical theological pastor i’ve listened to and I can’t get enough of him. All the messages are at desiringgod.org. You can…[Read more]
I can’t believe it has been 3 weeks, when I asked about the Piper Romans series, I was frantically downloading stuff while we had DSL, and that series was something I got a lot of, so that me and Lei can check it out now that we are on an aircard with limited usage.
Sure am looking forward to getting the hang of this RV life so we have the time…[Read more]
I wonder if the argument, “what about the people who’ve never heard the gospel?”, is not just a feeble attempt to find a loop hole in God’s law. Meaning if someone, somewhere gets off the hook, then there’s wiggle room for me and I will be able to justify myself before the Lord on judgment day. They forget Rom 1:20 “For since the creation of…[Read more]
